Institutional Journal Subscriptions
Karger offers three types of subscription: Print Only, Online Only and the combined Print + Online.
The basic annual subscription rate is the same for all three delivery forms; however, a fee for the combined print and online subscription is levied, and there is a postage and handling charge for Print Only and Print + Online.

*The surcharge for combined print and online for institutional subscribers is currently (2008) 10% with a minimum of CHF 60.– / EUR 43.00 / USD 55.00.
Please note that a multi-site license (for institutions with more than one physical location) as well as remote end-user access are subject to separate agreements; institutional online subscriptions cover multiple simultaneous access but from one physical location only.

Personal Journal Subscriptions

The basic annual subscription rate is the same for all three delivery forms; however, a flat fee for the combined print and online subscription is levied per volume, and there is a postage and handling charge for Print Only and Print + Online.

The flat fee for combined print and online is currently (2008) per volume CHF 45.– / EUR 32.00 / USD 41.00.
Please note that the basic rate for personal subscriptions is in most cases equivalent to 50% of the institutional rate. Full details can be found on the individual journal homepages.
Conditions
These reduced rates will only be granted if the following conditions are met:
1. The printed issues are delivered to the private address of an individual. Institutional, company or P.O. Box addresses are not acceptable.
2. Complete contact information must be supplied, including e-mail address and telephone number.
3. The subscription must be paid out of private funds or by personal credit card. Personal subscribers paying through group/institutional accounts must verify in writing that the journal is ordered for their personal use only.
4. Orders must be accompanied by a copy of a personalized membership certificate for a scientific or professional association.
When ordering online, please fax certificates and any additional paperwork to us at +41 61 306 1234 clearly marked "Re: Personal subscription" and include your name (please print) and the journal(s) concerned.
Please note that personal online subscriptions are not transferable and access is user ID and password controlled.
Medical and Scientific Associations
Members of various medical and scientific associations qualify for preferential rates for certain journals. Please contact us at service@karger.ch for more information.
Consortia
Special pricing is available for library consortia and commercial organizations. Please contact Customer Service service@karger.ch with your wishes and requirements.
Ordering, Credit Cards
Journal subscriptions can be placed at any bookstore, subscription agency, directly with Karger Publishers, or with one of our representatives. Every journal homepage offers order forms to print out or fill in online. Orders can also be e-mailed to orders@karger.ch.
Please note that every journal has a set of two ISSN numbers, one for the print edition and one for the online one: be sure to quote the right one depending on the delivery form you wish for your subscription; for Print + Online please indicate both.
We accept American Express, Diners, MasterCard, Eurocard and Visa. Please do not forget to indicate your card number and its expiry date. Credit card orders in EUR will be charged in CHF.

We use the ISO currency abbreviations: CHF = SFr., EUR = EURO, USD = US$
All prices are based on CHF. Prices are subject to change without prior notice.
Prices in USD are valid only within the US.

Invoicing and Dispatch
The postage and handling charge for Print Only or Print + Online subscriptions is indicated separately. To ensure rapid delivery to all destinations, we use SAL (Surface Air Lifted) for overseas. Airmail delivery is also available at a supplementary charge.
Institutions and private persons with a subscription account directly with Karger Publishers will receive separate invoices for the different types of subscription.
Subscription Period
Print subscriptions run a full calendar year and may cover more than one volume. New subscriptions placed during the year will begin with the delivery of all back issues for that subscription year.
An online subscription allows access only to issues published in the subscription year. Access is activated with the first issue in that subscription year going online. These issues remain accessible on an archival basis even if the subscription is not renewed. It is not possible to access issues published prior and subsequent to the subscription year, unless a subscription to those years is purchased. New online subscribers receive instructions and their user ID/password together with the written confirmation of their order. For questions and problems our help desk can also be reached directly under online@karger.ch.
Authorized Access
For personal subscribers access is regulated via user ID/password, for those at institutes and libraries additionally via IP address (we accept more than one IP address per subscriber).
In order to facilitate the administration of online subscriptions, we offer libraries with a substantial number of Karger subscriptions the option of access regulation via IP address alone, provided there is no IP overlap or cross-accessing with other institutions. Back Volumes and Single Issues
Information on availability and prices of single print issues and print or electronic back volumes can be obtained from Jana Steimle of Customer Service.
General Journal Information
End-of-volume issues contain a title page, volume index, author index and, as a rule, a subject index. In the majority of journals, papers feature key words and abstracts or summaries in English. Papers which appear in multilingual journals contain an abstract in the original language and sometimes in the publication's other languages as well.
Full details on a journal's aims and scope, tables of contents, article abstracts and free online sample issues are available on the journal homepages.
Generally a journal issue is released online before the printed version is dispatched.
Online First: Some journals publish articles continuously online as part of an electronic 'Issue-in-Progress'; the print version is released whenever an issue is completed.
Please use a current, updated internet browser version. Tables of contents, article abstracts, references and most articles are available in HTML. All articles are also available in PDF format. To view and print the PDF files, Acrobat Reader from Adobe is required.
Change of Address
Please inform Customer Service at least 6 weeks in advance when you change your address and include journal title, your old and new address and your customer number if known.
Claims & Queries
Claims for undelivered issues should be made only after receipt of the following one. Please inform Customer Service indicating the journal and issue number you are missing.
